Merrimack, NH
Merrimack is located in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire. It is 14 miles from Manchester and 51 miles from Boston. It is just an hour from the New Hampshire Seacoast and the mountains.
Merrimack includes the towns of Merrimack Village, South Merrimack, Thornton’s Ferry and Reed’s Ferry. Merrimack Village is the center of town. It is home to Merrimack High School, the library, the original town meeting house and several other buildings. South Merrimack is the southwestern part of town, near Harris Pond. Reed’s Ferry is the northern part of town. Thornton’s Ferry is the area of town near Lake Naticook. It is named after Matthew Thornton, who was one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence.
Merrimack is home to the Anheuser-Busch Plant. Beer tasting and tours are open to the public.
According to the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau, Merrimack’s population at the time was 25,119 people. This included 8,832 households and 6,986 families. The average family size was 3.19 and the average household size was 2.84. Merrimack is comprised of 32.6 square miles of land and 0.8 square miles of water.
